Title: Health Reform: Stumbling Block Still Remain
Publication Information: Business Week, Jan. 26 2009
Author: Catherine Arnst
Location: LexisNexis.com
Accessed: Jan. 27 2009
Support:
Former President Bill Clinton
Len M. Nichols, health-care policy director for New America Foundation
Tom Daschle, Health & Human Services Secretary nominee
Montana Senator Max Baucus
Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy
Karen Ignagni, President of America’s Health Insurance Plans
Richard J. Umbdenstock, President of American Hospital Association
All of these: senators, health care officials and the former President Clinton all are quoted in this article on issues regarding health care reform, and the challenges that accompany it.
Source Analysis:
Business Week interviews both sides of the debate. Author Catharine Arnst does not take a position in the article, but she does point out several hurdles for the Obama team; namely insurance companies. Health care reform may take out money from insurer’s pockets and that is why insurers will want a say in the processs.
Usefulness:
This is a shorter article (approximately 700 words) but it provides useful information regarding future health care reform. It points out certain flaws in the current health care system, who is happy, who is unhappy etc. It also references the attempt to refer health care during the Clinton administration, and how it failed in the 1990’s; however, it seems that this time around reform appears to be a much more tangible possibility.
